Hartman Engineering is seeking to fill a role in Visalia, CA as an Professional Land Surveyor. This role will work in tandem with the office Engineering Team and an Assistant Land Surveyor. An ideal candidate will successfully utilize scanning capture applications and complete post-processing tasks in order to achieve project success, client satisfaction, and professional growth.

Job Duties

The Professional Land Surveyor is expected to effectively and efficiently communicate effectively and efficiently, including:

  • Engaging in daily check-ins and updates with the office engineering team
  • Effective at expressing work in a timely and effective manner within team and with clients, various agencies, and other disciplines working on a project
  • Tracking project tasks and reviews

As the experience and expertise of the Professional Land Surveyor grows, so will the responsibilities:

  • Compile topographic information, compute and manipulate digital terrain models for topographic mapping
    in AutoCAD, Civil 3-D
  • Perform survey related research, boundary analysis, calculations, exhibits, plats and legal descriptions for
    a variety of dairy digester and agricultural development projects, as well as public sector improvement
    projects throughout CA and beyond
  • Review construction plans and perform calculations for layout staking and prepare exhibits
  • Download data collectors, process & analyze data
  • Ensure that quality control procedures are being implemented
  • Monitor technical and quality control standards
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on survey deliverables
  • Enforce company policies with respect to safety, protocol, and procedure
  • Create and support as-built surveys for upcoming and current projects
  • Participate and support development of long-term goals and objectives
  • Ensure all labor, equipment, and materials are organized and equipment firmware is up to date

Job Requirements

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) Certification in California.
  • FFA Drone Certification / ability to take and pass exam
  • Familiarity with survey industry standards and procedures
  • Previous experience/training in AutoCAD, Civil3D, GIS. and/or Microstation
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently and coordinate/ follow-up with multiple
    priorities, while managing time effectively and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work with a high degree of problem solving with little supervision; exercising independent
    judgment in completion of work, including directing engineering activities to complete project
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Must pass a background check and routine drug test screening
