Hartman Engineering is seeking to fill a role in Visalia, CA as an Assistant Land Surveyor, with an approximate commencement date of December 2021. This role will work in tandem with the office Engineering Team and a Professional Land Surveyor. An ideal candidate will successfully utilize scanning capture applications and complete post-processing tasks, in order to achieve project success and client satisfaction, as well as personal and professional growth.

Job Duties

Communication:
The Assistant Land Surveyor is expected to effectively and efficiently communicate effectively and efficiently, including:

  • Engaging in daily check-ins and updates with the office engineering team
  • Effective at expressing work in a timely and effective manner within team and with clients, various agencies, and other disciplines working on a project
  • Tracking project tasks and reviews

Surveying:
As the experience and expertise of the Assistant Land Surveyor grows, so will the role’s responsibilities:

  • Compile topographic information, compute and manipulate digital terrain models for topographic mapping
    in AutoCAD, Civil 3-D
  • Perform survey related research, boundary analysis, calculations, exhibits, plats and legal descriptions for
    a variety of dairy digester and agricultural development projects, as well as public sector improvement
    projects throughout CA and beyond
  • Review construction plans and perform calculations for layout staking and prepare exhibits
  • Download data collectors, process & analyze data
  • Ensure that quality control procedures are being implemented
  • Monitor technical and quality control standards
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on survey deliverables
  • Enforce company policies with respect to safety, protocol, and procedure
  • Create and support as-built surveys for upcoming and current projects
  • Participate and support development of long-term goals and objectives
  • Ensure all labor, equipment, and materials are organized and equipment firmware is up to date

Job Requirements

  • Obtained or working on obtaining a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) Certification; B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
  • FFA Drone Certification / ability to take and pass exam
  • Familiarity with survey industry standards and procedures
  • Previous experience/training in AutoCAD, Civil3D, GIS. and/or Microstation
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently and coordinate/ follow-up with multiple
    priorities, while managing time effectively and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work with a high degree of problem solving with little supervision; exercising independent
    judgment in completion of work, including directing engineering activities to complete project
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Must pass a background check and routine drug test screening
